RTP/RTCP |
H.323 |
Description:
RTP is a protocol designed for end-to-end packet delivery services containing data, with real time characteristics, such as interactive audio and video. These services include payload type identification, sequence numbering, time stamping and delivery monitoring. This application runs on UDP protocol and is augmented by a control protocol (RTCP) to allow monitoring of packet delivery in a manner that is scalable to large multicast networks to provide minimal control and identification functionality.
Features:
- Dynamic payload of RTP in the range of 95 to 125
- Integrates with speech codecs (G.711, G.722, G.726, G.728, G.729A, G.729B, G.729E etc.) and video codecs (H.261 and H.263) on different types of platform.
- Implemented in multitasking format ( kernel implementation).
- Supports adaptive playout buffering.
- Highly optimized code.
- Integration with DTMF/CNG/VAD/TAD
Configurations:
- Direct interface to 8 KHz. PCM data stream for signaling
- Coder selection can occur at run time
- Multi instance compatible
- Available as a module integrated with different codecs for SIP, MGCP and H.32x
Typical Applications:
- Voice over internet ( VoIP)
- Videoconferencing.
- Streaming Audio and Video
- MCU Gatekeeper and media gateway
- Enterprise solutions integrating PBX and packet based network
- FAX over IP
Availability:
- Windows NT and RTOS (VxWorks and MicroCos) implementations available

ITU-T H.323 Teleconferencing Protocol
|
Description:
H.323 is an ITU-T recommendation and consists of a set of protocols for multimedia conferencing over packet-based networks such as LANs and the Internet. H.323 is broad and comprehensive in its scope yet flexible and practical in its applicability.
H.323 was designed for extending video telephony services over Corporate LAN and a part of is purely defined for internet use. The following protocols form the core components of H.323:
Q931 - Over TCP for initial call setup
H.245 - For capability negotiation
H.225 - For logical connection establishment, and
RTP - for media transport
Features:
- Integrated with signaling stack H.225, H.245.
- Integrates with speech codecs (G.711, G.722, G.726, G.728, G.729A, G.729B, G.729E etc.) and video codecs (H.261 and H.263) on different types of platform.
- Implemented in multitasking format ( kernel implementation)
- Highly optimized code
- Integration with DTMF/CNG/VAD/TAD
- Conferencing facility
- Extensible for Voice over PSTN/POTS
Configurations:
- Direct interface to 8 KHz. PCM data stream for signaling
- Available with H.245, H.225 and Q.931
- Coder selection can occur at run time where many codecs are used
- Multi instance compatible
Typical Applications:
- Voice over Network (VoN)
- Videoconferencing
- Streaming Audio and Video
- MCU Gatekeeper and media gateway
- Enterprise solutions integrating PBX and packet based network
- Fax over IP
Availability:
- Windows NT and RTOS (VxWorks and MicroCos) implementations available
